Calder's Rose![]() Authors discover their characters take over the writing of their Western novel. Excerpt: Dare Calder's lips twitched. "I've a secret lust for..." Rose Coltraine inclined her head, her voice as soft as her inquiry. "For what, sir? Or for whom?" "Virgins." He tipped back his hat, and the twitch of his lips belied his seriousness. "I've always wanted to bed a virgin. I want to draw a touch of purity over my sordid past like a satin bedcover. I want to slide between her silken thighs and get lost in the takin' of a woman as if it were my first time." Rose was just such a virgin. Her blood heated and her cheeks burned. Flustered and fuming she turned her back on the gunslinger. "I'll not share a paragraph with you," she cast over a stiff shoulder. "We'll share pages. We've got a story to tell, darlin'." The corner of his mouth kicked into a knowing grin as he and his prediction swaggered back into the shadows. "Once we kiss, you'll pray the chapter never ends." Miss Rose swore the devil wore cowboy boots. |
